Department of English
Established in the year 2006, the
Department of English has two full time
and one Part time teachers. The
Department offers Special English at the
third year level. In addition to this an
Add-on course in Content
Writing and Editing in English Language
is also offered to the students of B. A.
III . A certificate course in
Soft Skills is conducted every year
for the benefit of the students. A
certificate course in Moral Education
was conducted in the year 2018 - 19.
The
Department organises seminars, webinars
and workshops every year. We have
organised syllabus based workshops in
collaboration with Punyashlok Ahilyadevi
Holkar Solapur University,
Macmillan Publication, and Orient
Blackswan. In addition to this
we help our students to tap their
potentials by arranging a number of
activities like workshops, group
discussion, poster competition, Power
Point Presentation, Quiz , Essay
writing, Poetry Composition etc.
Expert
lectures are arranged every year so as
to help students reap maximum benefits.
We have signed a
Memorandum of Understanding with a
few colleges like

Gandhi Mahavidyalaya, Vairag
- Mauli Mahavidyalaya,
Wadala
- Shri. Chattrapati
Shivaji Night College, Solapur
- Santosh Bhimrao
Patil Mahavidyalaya, Mandrup

Association's Arts and Commerce College,
Solapur
A
number of collaborative activities are
organised with these colleges and
students actively participate in the
same. In collaboration with the above
colleges, we have been conducting web
lectures series for the students of B.
A. III year since 2020.
We also
arrange You Tube lectures.
This
gives the students a wide range of
learning opportunities from various
sources. We have a very good collection
of books in the library which includes
classics and masterpieces. Around
1000 rare books in English have been
donated by Late. Shri. Bhogishayana,
Former Vice Chancellor of Shivaji
University, Kolhapur . We have a
Departmental Library which students use
on a regular basis. Every year we
encourage our students towards project
work which is done very
enthusiastically. Our students
participate in research based activities
like attending and presenting research
papers in seminars. Every year, the
Department organises a workshop on
Intellectual Property Rights. We
also arrange a workshop on Research
Methodology for our students every
year. Eminent Scholars are invited as
Resource Persons for the workshops. We
have an ICT enabled classroom and make
use of blended mode of teaching. Every
year we arranged Bridge and
Enrichment classes for our
students. Two of our students Ms.
Khansa Muchale and Ms Lavanya Adepu
participated in Avishkar Research
Activity and were awarded for their
presentation. Our Alumni, Ms. Khansa
Muchale has qualified SET and
is working as Asst. Professor.
Every
year the Department arranges the World
Book Day on 23rd April to commemorate
the birth anniversary of William
Shakespeare. The students
enthusiastically arrange programs like
Teachers' Day, Guru Purnima etc.Our
Alumni make us proud and are placed in
government sectors, police department,
schools, colleges, MSRTC etc.
Prof.
Dr. Annie John, Head, Dept. of
English and Dr. Panchappa R. Waghmare
are both Ph. D Supervisors
recognised by P. A. H. Solapur
University, Solapur.
Ms.
Bhagyashree Patil is a qualified faculty
with SET and she is pursuing
Ph. D.
